I just installed LED moon lights. Does that count for anything?

Re: Leds for salt
Yeah, I got 89 watts of led on my jbj nano and I love em and so do the sps corals. What I really like is the different ways you can work them. On mine I have it setup to have two one watt moonlights at night then going into four corner blue three watt leds for dawn-dusk then into the main daylights an hour later and at night the mains go off first and the dawn-dusk are on another hour then into the moon light again. One great thing about leds is you get the same shimmer effect you get from metal halides without the energy costs and heat. The leds do not produce hardly any heat.

Re: Leds for salt
I've got a 14k Evolution LED over my 29g. Love it. I've got a red monti in there that didn't bleach through a small cycle so that's a good thing!
I'm ordering another 24w LED strip to do some dusk/dawn with and a 5w moon light.
Donnie, do you think 5w will be too much for moon lights? You mention you're running 2...

Re: Leds for salt
Matt
I have two 1 watt led moonglo and they are bright, they don't seem to bother the inhabitants but they light up the whole room, one day I am gonna take the glass cover off the leds and put a piece of black tape over one of them, my Wife says its a bright nightlite for the whole house. But remember all leds aint created equal so the ones you are getting may not be that brite, if they are to brite you can always cover them with something to dim them, several layers of clear tape perhaps.

Re: Leds for salt
I have 4 x 2 watt moonlight leds on my 75 and it is plenty bright. I would rather have 2 x 2 watt or 2 x 1 watt. I don't really like the whole tank lit up at night but it looks good and it doesn't bother the corals at all.

I'm going to put this LED over all of my tanks. It just looks so good... Less electricity, no bulb changes, grows SPS, why use anything else?

If you order the Evolution LEDs let me know if you don't mind. The guy I ordered from is giving me free frags for running orders through him.

Re: Leds for salt
alright guys i am having a algee problem and it has to be due to leds only started when i put them on, need help??? i have (2) apollo led pendants each are 209 watts apeice. the light fixture is (72) 3 watts epie leds with (48) - daylight 14,000k white and (24) - blues 460nm now i have a couple questions for everyone running leds?
1) what are you light schedules? start to finish
2) what light index for whites and blues?
3) what hight you have your fixtures from the water?
4) what fixture and specs?
This is my fixture and as you can see it has six pods with 12 leds per pod the two pods in the middle of both fixtures are all whites should i cover the center whites to eliminate to much day light? just an idea.
