local stops

Are there any local stores in the Longview Tyler area to check out? I know the Tyler store closed last year, but are there any others, or hidden jewels? I'm only in town for a few more days.... and would love to check out a local store besides Dallas/Ft.Worth....

lonestar aquariums has a nice selection of fish/coral right off 110 in tyler

There is Petco in Longview, better to go there on a Friday. Wet Pets & Critters in Longview also. There is Pet Land here in Tyler. Priced a little high and not much of a selection. And yes Lonestar Aquariums. They have nice stuff. I seen a Lion Fish I would have love to bought!

PETCO had better/healthier fish then WPC last time I was in....

Yeah LSA has certain hours. You can contact them and they will do apt. They have nice looking fish. All looked very healthy. I have bought fish from wpc and they are still healthy and doing good. Also form Petco.

I've been giving WPC 3 years to show me something decent and they haven't. There was a time when they got a decent coral selection in every week but It's worse every time I go in there. I quit. If someone lets me know things are better then I'll visit again. I'd rather do without than buy from that place. What little they get in is horribly over priced. I refuse to pay nearly $40 for a cleaner shrimp.

I went to WPC and they didn't even have proper lighting on there coral tank.... +1 for LSA. I'm a LFS snob and they rank very high in my books.

next time you're in Longview go and see Jason. OK I'm new to the darkside, but I've spent a long time fighting the desire, and looked at a lot of corals and fish in that time, and I would say you wouldn't be disappointed by the quality of his stock.

You know how it is, there are the businesses that look at their stock purely as items to sell .... then there are the obsessed hobbyist's that although selling some items, they are still their babies, and they care about them.

Just don't take a liking to that black clown he has for sale.. grrrr
