Sump/Refugium Design
The Sump/Refugium design below is the system I built and currently use on my 125 Gallon Reef tank.
I use two small return pumps instead of one. If one goes out I still get circulation through the Sump/Fuge. It might seem a little overboard but I actually had a pump go out about a month ago. The system was only running at 50% but it was still running none the less.
Future upgrades include another PhosBan reactor to run GFO media.

Is a 10 gallon sump large enough to support a 92 gallon tank?

No: unless you want it to overflow when the power goes out...I have a thirty gal under mine and its packed..you wont be able to fit pump or pumps skimmer live rock chaeto lighting etc. I am sure there are other technical aspects too..One of these tank guru's on here can tell you that.reileywatts wrote:Is a 10 gallon sump large enough to support a 92 gallon tank?

Re: Sump/Refugium Design
Can someone help me out, I'm staring over with my saltwater system. We just moved to Flint and I lost all my livestock out of my 125 DAS tank during the move. I got rid of the 125 and bout a 92 corner bowfront. I put all my liverock in it and have it filled with water and running about 2 weeks now with a aqua c remora skimmer. I would like to have a sump, however I've never done one before and don't know where to begin. Can someone help me out with how to set one up and what to buy? Thanks

Re: Sump/Refugium Design
Here's something to get you started, it doesn't have to be as complicated as this design though. http://www.melevsreef.com/install_sump.htmlreileywatts wrote:Can someone help me out, I'm staring over with my saltwater system. You're basically going to need a tank for the sump, an overflow if you're not going to drill the display tank, a return pump and the plumbing to connect it all up. There are many choices for return pumps and you'll need to match it to the drain from the overflow.

As big as you can fit under your stand.

Re: Sump/Refugium Design
What are the dimensions inside your stand (L-W-H)? What access do you have around the tank; e.g. one door or open back? Can you start a tank build thread and post a picture?
Unfortunately, bow fronts and corner tanks are not the easiest to put a good size sump under. Give me your dimensions and I will see what will work. As Ritter said, you want to go as big as possible. The objective is to gain as many gallons of water as possible. The more water you have the more stable the system will be. Plus, if possible, a refugium would be a good addition.

Re: Sump/Refugium Design
The stand has 2 doors on the front and half open back.
Dimensions: 48 1/2 L x 34 1/4 W x 25 H
I'll try and post pics in a minute

Re: Sump/Refugium Design
A 40 breeder would be a good size for a sump on your 92 bowfront.
You posted: Dimensions: 48 1/2 L x 34 1/4 W x 25 H
If these are the rectangular dimensions inside your stand then a 40 breeder will fit and still give you enough room to work on/with it.
